Abstract

405,392. Guards for machinery. TRENDALL, J., 9, Kitchener Road, High Wycombe. Sept. 26, 1932, No. 26676. [Class 80 (iv).] A guard for the cutter 18 of wood - planing machines comprises spring-pressed blades 4, 5 pivoted at 6 in endplates 3 supported by an angle-bar 1. The side 1a of the bar is slotted so as to be adjustably mounted on a pillar 13 which is itself vertically adjustable in a clamp. Arms 7 on the pivots of the blades 4, 5 are connected by a spring 8 which presses the blades down upon the work when the machine is in action. The various members may be made in telescoping sections to enable the width of the guard to be adjusted. Extension strips may be adjustably secured to the blades if wood of unusual thickness is to be worked.
