Abstract

406,701. Guards for machinery. CHENEY, C. W., Factory Road, Soho, Birmingham. Sept. 2, 1932, No. 24459. [Class 80 (iv).] A pair of arms 21 are pivoted at 19 to L-shaped rods 9 pivoted at 10 to a bracket 8 secured to the frame of a press or like machine. The rods 9 are connected by links 11 to a pivot 13 adjustably secured to the plunger of the machine. The Figure shows the position of the parts when the plunger is in its highest position. When it begins to descend, it exerts a toggle action on the rods 9, and the arms 21 arc swung outwardly. The pivots 19 allow of the arms being swung forwards when the tools require adjustment.
