Abstract

446,340. Closures for petrol and like tanks. CEANDESS, Ltd., and STEVENS, T. A., Merridale Street West, Wolverhampton. Oct. 20, 1934, No. 30067. [Class 125 (iii)] A cap closure for petrol &c. tanks comprises a cap 1 which is pivoted at the neck 4 of the filling orifice and a clamping lever 6 which is pivoted to the cap on the remote side of a diameter parallel to the pivot axis 5 of the cap. The filling neck 4, is provided with lugs 9 having cam shaped under surfaces which are engaged by legs 7 on the lever 6 to lock the cap in the closed position. The pivot axis of the clamping lever is adjustable to ensure co-operation of the legs with the cam surfaces on the lugs. The lever 6 is stirrup shaped, and forms a hand grip for operating the cap.
