Abstract

445,871. Vehicle bodies. PIMM, A. W., 36, Lodore Road, Newcastle-on-Tyne. Oct. 18, 1934, No. 29783. [Class 108 (i)] Commercial vehicles are constructed with metal trough-shaped members laid longitudinally on the chassis frame members and adapted to support the floor boards. The longitudinal metal trough members 1 are secured to the chassis longitudinals 2 by brackets 5, the trough member having sides which are outwardly inclined and cross braced at intervals by braces 4. The floor boards &c. 3 are laid upon the outturned flanges of the upper edges and where it is desired to secure pillars or door posts in position brackets 6 are employed, secured to the chassis, trough members and pillars 7. The trough members may be corrugated or provided with flanged apertures for strengthening and lightening purposes. The trough members are adapted to carry additional load, tools, &c. and either trough member, when damaged, may be replaced without disturbance of the other.
