Abstract

477,551. Vehicle bodies. BLANCH, S. F. July 3, 1936, No. 18551. [Class 108 (i)] Hollow metal bearers for supporting a vehicle body on the chassis are constructed of inverted V-form in cross-section and comprise metal plates or sheet elements welded together and provided with reinforcing members. The bearers comprise elements having webs 1 and flanges 2, 3 and are welded together at 4, inverted channel reinforcing members 5 with or without plates 7 being provided. The bearers are up-swept as shown in Fig. 2, away from the parts in which they rest on the chassis members and the webs are also tapered towards one another horizontally at their ends, flitch plates being interposed if desired. When they are supported on the chassis members sheet metal reinforcing members 9 formed of elements 8, 10 are provided welded together and to the bearers, apertures 11 for securing bolts 12 being provided.
