616,274. Vehicle frames. JULIEN, M. F. A. Nov. 14, 1945, No. 30467. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1944. [Class 79 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXII] A combined floor and chassis for a vehicle comprises a floor plate 1, as seen from below, which may be ribbed, stiffened by longitudinal plate elements 3 and transverse plate elements 9 to form box-like compartments which may be covered by plates 11, 12. The longitudinals 3 are welded to the floor and are recessed at 4, 5 to accommodate the wheel axles. The transverse elements 9 are welded to the floor and to the longitudinals 3. An intermediate member 8 completes the transverse member 9 and the box-like part formed by members 3, 8 may be stiffened by angled webs 10 joined at their apices to form diagonals. The box sections may be closed by plates 12, 19, which may be perforated to facilitate welding to the diagonals &c.
