Abstract
405,507. Motor vehicle frames. BROULHIET, G., 201, Rue de Grenelle, Paris. May 19, 1933, No. 14533. Convention date, May 19, 1932. [Class 79 (iv).] A chassis frame comprises tubular longitudinals formed by a U-section channel with out-turned edges closed by a plate, the edges of the plate and U-shaped member lying in the horizontal plane and forming supports for the mechanical elements of the vehicle, and tubular cross-members secured to the longitudinals. As shown in Figs. 10, 11, the longitudinals 1 are built up of a channel 31, Fig. 3, closed by a plate 32, the cross-members 2, 3 being of tubular section of, preferably, similar construction welded or riveted to the longitudinals. The cross-member 3, Fig. 5, is connected to the longitudinal 1 by a stud 12 which may also secure a spring-shackle 15 to the chassis. Strengthening pieces 13, 14 on the members 1 and 3 respectively and a tubular distance piece 11 on the stud may be used. An axle E may replace the cross-members 2 and is affixed to the member 1 by a bracket 19, Fig. 8, and bolts 20, 22, strengthening pieces 23 being employed in the vicinity of the bracket.
