Jan. 17, 1935, Nos. 1565 and 14181. [Class 44] A latch bolt a which normally yields to push or pull on the door, the nose being rounded on each side of the bolt's longitudinal axis, enters a cavity o in the face of a member m yieldingly supported in the staple plate h. A metal or other roller may be placed in the nose of the bolt to engage a curved recess in the member m. In the normal latching position, the latch spring b rests against a fixed pin c. To place the bolt in a locked position, a key is turned to raise a tumbler s, and press the bolt head further into the staple plate, the cross piece v of the tumbler being transferred from a recess t to a recess u. In the movement of the bolt the spring b is carried away from the pin c by the shoulders z of the cavity in the latch bolt.
