[Class 39 (i)] A discharge device, such as a lamp, is formed by sealing a flare into the end of the tubular portion of the device by the drop seal method, and then sealing the electrode assembly therein by means of a pinch formed in the end of the flare by a stem-making machine. Electrode assemblies may be sealed into both ends of the tube.
