[Class 123 (i)] A tank cover 1, pivotally supported by a bracket 5 carried by an arm 2, so as to be rotatable horizontally and vertically as described in the parent Specification, is held in position by a bridge member 9, the ends of which bear against a stiffening ring 12 welded to the tank wall adjacent to the opening. The pressure of the bridge member is thereby more evenly distributed over the tank wall and cracking of the enamel lining is avoided. The cover is drawn to its seating by a hand wheel 10 moving on a threaded spindle 8<a> attached to the cover and passing through the bridge member. Outward movement of the hand wheel is limited by a stop 8b. The cover carries ring 1<a> for centring purposes.
