443,246. Heating by circulation of fluids. SOLWAY PUMPS, Ltd., and MARSDEN, A., 68, Victoria Street, Westminster. Aug. 30, 1934, No. 25018. [Class 64 (ii)] [See also Group XXVI] In pumping-apparatus for use in central heating or like installations, an impeller pump is mounted at one side of a pipe with its axis perpendicular to the pipe, the driving motor is parallel to the axis of the pump, and the pipe contains a non-return valve between the suction and delivery sides of the pump. A pipe section 1 is formed with a recess 5 for a pump 6, driven by means of a belt 10 by an electric motor, not shown. The impeller draws water through the opening 13 controlled by a valve 15, and returns it through an opening 14 controlled by a valve 16, both manually actuated. The circulation of water may thereby be accelerated when convection is insufficient. The pump motor may be thermostatically controlled. A non-return valve 17 is provided to prevent return flow. The pump may be removed when valves 15, 16 are removed.
