PUMP.
Application filed December To all whom it may conoem:
1 Be it known that l, ALBERT'G. ANDERsoN,-
o citizen of the United States, residing at Antonito, in the county of Conejosand State of Colorado, have invented certain new and uselullmpi'oveinents in Pumps, of which the iollowin is e specification.
' This invention relates to pumps used chiefly on forms for raising water from ,wells and distributing it as required; and it consists in providing the pump with an er; rnngeroent or system of distributing pipes and valves as hereinafter fully described and claimed.
The drawing shows a side View of e pump provided with pipes and valves according to this invention and arranged in the form of e diagram. Y
The pump 2 is preferably a centrifugal pump or turbine pump Oil any approved construction. The rotor of this pump is driven by any approved motor, the power being applied to a wheel or. pulley 3 secured on the rotor driving shaft i. The inlet -pipe or suction pipe 5 ol the pump extends into o well 6, or other water supply, and it is provided with at stop valve 7 arranged con veniently near the pump and in the main portion of the pipe. The main. portion of the pipe 5 is connected to the pump by e branch pipe 8. v
A pipe 10is connected to the niein pipe 5, end is arranged in line with its upper port, and 12 is a branch pipe connected to the pipe 10 and connecting it with any suitable storage tank 13 arranged et any suitable elevation. The pipe 10 has two stop valves 1% and 15, arranged one on each side of the branch pipe 12.
A pipe 16 is connected at one end to the pipe 10 by an angle-pipe 17, end this pipe 1 16 is provided with a branch ipe 18 which is connected to the outlet or d ivery passage of the pump 2. The delivery pipe or branch 18 is provided with a stop valve 19.
The other end of the pipe 18 from the angle-pipe 17 is connectedto a supply pipe or supply line 20, which has at stop Volvo 21.
A by-pass pipe 22 is also connected at one end to the pipe 18, and is erronged in line pipe end a delivery pipe having between their stop valves.

with the supply pipe 20, end is provided with a stop valve 24:. The other end oi? the by-pass pipe 22 is arranged to deliver into the well 6."
When the pump is required to force weter directly into the supply pipe 20, the valves 7, 19 and 21 are opened, and the velves 1 1, 15 and 2d are closed. When water is to be forced into the storage tonlr the valves 7, 19 and 15 are opened, and the valves 14, 21 e and 2d are closed. When water is to be supplied from the storage tanlr to the supply pipe 20, the pump is not driven, The valves 15 and 21 are opened, and the valves '3, 1 1, 19 and 24: are closed. l l'hen the pure 1 t be run without delivering water to ply tank or to the supply pipe 9/ 3, is sometimes desirable, the velves 1%, ill and 2d are opei'ied,,end the velves 14, 15 end 21 are closed, so the water by the pump is returned to the well by tee bypass When a. pump is provided pipes'ond vnlves in this manner it is found to be very efficient for use on end ot r places. J i.
where water is used from time to where it is desirable that the water should never What I cleiin 1. A single pump provided with ve, a single suction pipe connected to the inlet pipe end also provided with a stop valve, n mainpipe connected at one end to the suction pipe and provided with it brunch pipe and having two stop valves erronged on each side of tee branch pipe, at storege tank connected to the branch pipe, e supply pipe and uby-pnss pipe arranged below the level of the said inn-1n pipe and in line with each other and each. provided stop valve, and a pipe connecting the sold innin pipe with the delivery pipe oi the pump and 'with the said supply and toy-pet's pipes 2. A single pump provided with oil-inlet pipe and a delivery pipe having it stop valve, 2 single suction pipe connected to the inlet pipe and elso provided with e stop valve, e inein pipe provided with o brunch w men eve pipe and two stop valves arranged one on pipe and a by-pass pipe each provided with each side of the branch pipe, one of the a stop valve and connected with the last 10 said two stop valves being; connected with said pipe beyond its point of connection the said suction pipe and inlet pipe, :1 with the delivery pipe of the pump.
5 storage tank connected to the branch pipe, In testimony whereof I have aihxed my a pipe connecting the other of the two said signature. stop valves with the delivery pipe of the V pump beyond its stop valve, and a supply ALBERT C..AN+DERSUN.
