Abstract
442,906. Sealing leading in wires into vitreous envelopes. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Oct. 17, 1934, No. 29758. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1933. [Class 39 (ii)] In an arrangement for sealing an electric conductor into a vitreous envelope, wherein a sealed leading-in wire is welded to a conductor extending into the envelope, the welded points being arranged so that they are located within glass, at least the weld is copper coated. In the example two leading-in wires 3, 4 of a thermionic valve are welded at 2 to an external connector wire 1, and at 5 to an electrode supporting wire 6, the weld 5 and the part a of wire 6 being located inside the pinch 7. The weld 5, and preferably also the part a is, or are, copper coated to prevent scaling during sealing and prevent cracking of the pinch around the weld and end of wire 6, which may be of constantan.
