Abstract

442,483. Polishing rolling-mill rolls. COOPER, F., and LLOYD, H. P., c /o Neath Steel Sheet & Galvanizing Co., Ltd., Melyncrythan, Neath, Glamorgan. July 27, 1935, No. 21390. [Class 60] A device for polishing the rolls of rolling- rnills comprises a guide bar 1 having end projections 5, 6 to engage grooves in the frame of the mill, and adjusted so that the bar is parallel to the rolls and a slot 2 in the bar lies in a plane tangential to the rolls. Slidable in the slot is a flanged block 9 having a screwed hole to receive a screwed rod 13 carrying a head 14 in which is mounted a polishing- stone 15. In operation, the rod 13 is screwed up by a tommy-bar 17 to press the stone 15 against the rolls, and the block 9 is moved along the slot 2.
