Rolling-tubes; skew-rolling.-A rolling-mill for polishing or reeling metal bars and tubes comprises a pair of skew rolls 12 between which the work is supported by a member 16 carried by a cage 13, the cage being linked by rods 14 to a crosshead 15 which is normally retained in contact with an axially adjustable stop 20 by an hydraulic ram 18. On release of the hydraulic pressure the cage 13 descends, permitting the replacement of the member 16 or the removal of scale &c. from the machine.
