Abstract

442,401. Cylinders; valves. PETERSEN, O., 27, Bregentveds AllÚ, Gentofte, near Copenhagen. May 4, 1935, No. 13314. Convention date, May 9, 1934. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (vi)] In a cylinder having a poppet valve mounted in a valve-guide boss extending into the passage, the contour of the boss and passage is such that the cross-sectional area of the duct is substantially constant, or varies gradually, preferably throughout its length from the valve seat to the end of the boss. The boss is streamlined and contains a cylindrical, or streamlined, valve guide. The actual faces of the valve and the seating are arranged as tangents to, or make very obtuse angles with, the adjacent walls and the face on the valve extends by a conical formation and a large radius curve to a tapering stem. Curves are given showing cross-sections throughout the passage.
