Abstract

441,610. Seat adjustments. GRIDNER, F. L., 39, St. Catherine Road, Southbourne-on- Sea, Hampshire. July 25, 1934, No. 30808/35. Divided out of 441,555. [Class 52 (ii)] An adjustable backrest 10 is carried on a tubular support 12 which is mounted to slide in an angularly adjustable guide sleeve 6 pivoted at 7 near its lower end to a bracket 5 integral with the seat frame. The guide sleeve 6 is forced outwardly against an adjusting screw 9 by a spring 8. The support 12 is held in the desired position of vertical adjustment in the sleeve 6 by means of a spring-pressed ball catch 13. The backrest 10 is suspended in a yoke 11 so as to adjust itself to the back of the user. The invention is applicable to chairs of the kind described in Specification 441,555.
