Abstract

441,249. Engine crossheads. LUNDBORG, E., Enskede, near Stockholm. June 5, 1935, No. 16362. [Class 122 (i)] Piston-rods are connected to the crossheads of doubleacting, &c., engines by adjustable-nuts which upon fracture of the rod are effective to hold the rod. Two nuts 7, 8 are screwed upon the end of the rod 1 and are tightened against each other. A nut 10 screwed to the crosshead holds a flange 9 on nut 8 against the crosshead. A second flange 11 is provided upon the nut 10 which is normally free of nut 7, but, in the case of a piston-rod break between the nuts, engages it. The noise produced by the play draws attention to the fracture.
