[Class 97 (i)] In apparatus in which a sprocket, normally driven through a locking member rigidly coupling it to its shaft, is rotatable relatively to the shaft, to facilitate the formation of a film loop, means is provided whereby the relative rotation is effected through the locking member, when the apparatus is in use, by pressure on a button or by a pulling action; braking means for effecting relative rotation in the opposite sense may also be provided. As shown, the sprocket 2 is loose on the shaft 5, and the locking member comprises a gear 4, secured to the sprocket, and a gear 6 secured to the shaft, the gears 4, 6 having different numbers of teeth and being in mesh with locking gears 7, 8 carried by a disc 9 rotatable by a knob 10. Rotation of the knob and disc 9 rotates the sprocket relatively to the shaft, and is facilitated by the provision of a friction wheel 14 on a shaft 13 carrying a gear 12 driven by a gear 11 rotated by the shaft 5. The wheel 14 is normally held out of contact with the knob 10 by a spring 16, and is placed in contact by pressure on a pushbutton 17. Braking of the disc 9 may be effected by a brake-block 18 on a rod 19 movable against the action of a spring 21 by pressure on a push-button 20. The means for rotating and braking the disc 9 may be carried by a door 22 of the casing of the apparatus, clutch members 23, 24, engaged by a spring 25, being provided between the shaft 5 and the gear 11.
