[Class 80 (ii)] A clutch for a pressing, stamping, or like machine comprises an inner ring e which is secured to the machine shaft a and carries a segmental abutment f adapted to be rotated into a recess n<1> in an outer ring n resiliently mounted in the driving flywheel d, drive being transmitted through the medium of liquid contained in the recess n<1> and replenished through holes p from a chamber q. The ring n is carried by flexible pins r engaging flared holes in the ring and in rings s, t secured in the flywheel. The abutment f is mounted on a spindle k<1> having an arm h connected by a link g to an arm i on a spindle k, the latter having an arm l co-operating with a control slide m. On moving the latter into the path of the arm l, the segment is turned into the inoperative position shown in Fig. 2, in which position it is locked by a spring-controlled latch lever x, the other arm of which carries a roller x<1> co-operating with a cam y on the ring t. On retracting the slide m, the segment remains locked until it is in the proper position relative to the recess n<1>, at which time the cam y releases the latch and the segment turns into its operative position under the action of a spring w.
