393,867. Moving-signs. HUFFAKER, (nee YANCEY), L. Y., 815, South New Hampshire, Los Angeles, U.S.A. Nov. 18, 1932, No. 32627. [Class 3 (i).] A non-endless display band driven continuously by the mechanism 9 of a clock is connected thereto by change-speed gearing consisting of three concentric crown wheels 21, 22, 23, with one or the others of which a pinion 24 can be brought into engagement. The pinion 24 is mounted on a shaft 25 axially displaceable by a knob 26, a spring-pressed ball 28 engaging grooves 27 in the shaft to retain it in position. The shaft 25 has a sliding non-rotating engagement with a toothed wheel 34 geared to wheels 40 on the band rollers 44. The wheels 40 have oppositely disposed ball clutch connections with journalled studs 41 tongued to engage the rollers 44 detachably, thus allowing the band to be rotated in either direction when the knob 26 is pulled out to neutral and turned. Slots 49 in the rollers 44 permit ready attachment of the band, and spring-held pivots 46 enable the rollers 44 to be removed.
