Abstract

439,397. Automatic guns. CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA AKCIOVA SPOLECNOST, BRNO, 7, U Lazaretu, Brunn, Czecho Slovakia. Feb. 22, 1935, No. 5764. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1934. [Class 92 (ii)] Relates to firing mechanism for guns which are operated by and synchronized with an external power-driven element such as an aircraft propeller shaft, and consists in providing tensioning means for the percussion spring 16 and releasing means for the sear 11 both of which are operated by a common member 34 actuated during the last part of the closing movement of the breech. The invention is shown applied to a gun in which the barrel 1 moves forwards on discharge the member 34 being in the form of a sliding rod engaged by a projection 5 on the barrel. Fig. 1 shows the position of the parts immediately after firing. The rod 34 is connected firstly by a lever 31 with a sliding spring-pressed box 17 containing the firing spring 16 and secondly by inclined surfaces 15 with the rear end of the pivoted sear 11. When the barrel moves forwardly on discharge, the rod 34, Fig. 3, moves forwardly under the action of the spring 24 which through a projection 22 on the box causes the retraction of the firing pin until it is held by the sear. On the return of the barrel, the rod 34 is engaged by the projection 5 and moved rearwardly to slide the box forwardly, compress the percussion spring, and finally release the sear.
