Abstract

422,638. Air guns. SCHMEISSER, H., 5, Philosophenweg, Suhl, Thuringia, Germany. Sept. 26, 1933, No. 26527. Convention date, Feb. 7. [Class 119] The air cylinder 1 of an air gun is extended to form the housing 9 for the compression spring 3 and the chamber 10 into which the air piston moves to the cocked position, and is arranged between the pivot pin 5<a> and handlepart 5<b> of the cocking lever 5 in such manner that the cocking lever acts directly on the air pistonrod 2 without any intermediate link. In the construction shown, the lever is made in two parts hinged together at 5d, and passes through longitudinal slots 1<b>, 2<b> formed in the chamber 10 and piston rod, respectively. A lug 5<c> on the lower part of the lever engages the end face 2<c> of the slot 2b during the charging operation, and when charged, a bent 2d on the piston rod is engaged by a trigger sear 8. After charging, the lever is returned to its forward position, and the upper part thereof is rotated laterally into a circumferential slot in the chamber 10. The spring 3 bears against a disc 4 supported against a pressure sleeve, the sleeve being also slotted for the passage of the cocking lever. In modifications, the cocking lever is made in one piece, or in two parts which slidingly fit one within the other.
