Abstract
439,019. Macerating - machines. HAYCOCK, G. W., 52, Stewart Drive, Clarkston, Renfrewshire, and BARR, K., 123, Croftfoot Road, Croftfoot, Glasgow. May 2, 1935, No. 13080. [Class 86] A machine for macerating peat, or peat and coal &c. comprises a casing in which are mounted a number of parallel screws disposed symmetrically about a common axis and interconnected so as to rotate in the same direction, in combination with a rotating, oscillating or reciprocating set of knives, arranged to coact with a perforated plate. The peat is charged into a hopper K and fed by notched blades S on the shafts A which are driven from a pinion on a central shaft D. The shaft D is separately driven and carries rotating knives C urged by a spring T into contact with the apertured plate E. Water may be added by a connection U and drained off by a second connection V.
