Abstract
402,481. Roller - and - breast mills. GAS LIGHT & COKE CO. and CALVERT, E. E., 84, Horseferry Road, London. June 9, 1932, No. 16345. [Class 59.] A roller has blades on the circumference inclined between 10‹ to 25‹ to the axis of the roll and each blade has a rear face inclined between 25‹ to 45‹ to the adjacent radial face of the adjoining blade. The roll co-operates with a breaker plate hinged at its upper end and supported by a spring-tensioned bolt at its lower end. As shown the breaker plate 1 is hinged at 2 and is supported at its lower end by rods 18 supported resiliently by springs 22 and adjusted relatively to the roll by stops 24 mounted on the rods. The rear side of the plate is slotted at 17 to limit the movement of the plate and a wedge-shaped wear block 12 is bolted to the bottom. The roller 4 is provided with axially inclined longitudinal teeth 5 which may be integral with the roller, cast in the form of a sleeve, or formed in longitudinal segments. The leading faces of the teeth are radial and the rear are inclined between 25‹ to 45‹. The roller is driven by gear wheels from a shaft 28 provided with arms 30 which are connected with the driving wheel 34 by wooden pegs 35. Renewable cast side plates are provided at the sides of the breaker.
