Abstract
450,281. Hollow cylinders. NEWELL & CO., Ltd., E., Station Road, and MOSS, A. H., The Thorns, both in Misterton, Nottinghamshire. Aug. 3, 1935, No. 22051. [Class 34 (i)] [See also Groups II and XXII] In a ball or tube mill the end plate 10, Fig. 1, is welded circumferentially to the drum 11 by recessing one or both edges and inserting a fusing metal 12 therein or the end of the drum may project beyond the end 10 to form a recess for fusing metal 13. Triangularly shaped ribs 15, Fig. 2, may be welded to the outside for stiffening purposes or to the inside of the end 10 to form bearers for grinding-plates 14 secured by bolts 16 to the end plate, the intervening space between the ribs being filled with concrete. The centring-ring 17 may be welded circumferentially to the drum and the driving or bearing ring 25 may be secured to angle cleats or ring 27, Fig. 4, or a ring 23, Fig. 1, which is prevented from moving relatively to the drum by keys 24, Fig. 2. The driving-ring may be bolted directly to the end plate.
