437,751. Sifting-apparatus. SIMON, Ltd., H., and WATTS, G., Bird Hall Lane, Cheadle Heath, near Stockport, Cheshire. May 5, 1934, No. 13670. [Class 117] In a sieving-machine with the sieve or sieves vertical or almost vertical and reciprocated approximately horizontally, rebound surfaces are provided against which the material not passing through a sieve is thrown in its descent in order that it may be re-directed on to the sieve, and the rebound surfaces are also reciprocated but out of phase with the sieve. In the form shown, material fed in at m passes through the sieves a immediately or is re-projected towards them by the projections c on the members b which are reciprocated horizontally but out of phase with the vibrations of the screens a. Air entering at q passes upwards through the sieves and emerges at n but it may flow in the same direction as the material to be sifted. The parts c may be perforated to serve as additional sieves and a sieve cleaning device may be incorporated in the machine. The frames h, j for the sieves and members b respectively are vibrated by eccentries i, k.
