[Also in Group II] A circular screen for strainers is gyrated in its own horizontal plane, and supports a cleaning device comprising a frame 33 carrying brushes 37 which rest on the screen and move over the screen surface in operation. A ring 34 of the frame loosely embraces a buffer ring 44, and a leaf spring 46 with a buffer 45 loosely engages the screen casing 29. Material is fed centrally through an aperture 30 and oversize moves continuously off the outer edge of the screen and is delivered centrally to a similar screen below. The screens 11-13 are supported in funnels 14-16 which deliver filtrate and solid material that has passed through the screens to a central passageway 17 and shoot 38: oversize from the lowest screen falls to a shoot 31. The brushes may be given a forward or backward rake on their frame in relation to their direction of motion so as to either shorten or lengthen the treatment. Instead of, or in addition to, brushes, screen cleaning chains may be attached to the frame. The whole assembly is mounted on a frame carrying an out-ofbalance weight producing the gyrations, the assembly being supported by flexible vertical rods from a fixed outer frame.
