436,882. Range-finders. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES., Frankfort-on- Main, Germany. April 20, 1934, No. 11965. Convention date, April 20, 1933. [Class 97 (i)] A range-finder comprises fixed negative and positive lenses 1 and 2 and a negative lens 3 and prism 4 movable transversely to the direction of vision. The range is measured by adjusting the length of the base by movement of the lens 3 and prism 4, until the two images formed by light passing through lenses 1 and 3 are brought into coincidence. The apparatus may be mounted on a camera and the prism 4 may be moved out from between lenses 1 and 2 so that the latter may be used simply as a view finder. The lens 1 may be placed in an extensible mount. The lenses 1 and 3 may each illuminate half of the field as shown in Fig. 3.
