Abstract

Finders. - A combined finding and focusing device is adapted to be detachably mounted on a camera of the type having an objective in a focusing mount, and is interconnected by a coupling device with the device for rotating the objective so as to move correspondingly with it. As applied to a kinematograph camera, the finder B, Fig. 4, may be secured to any suitable part 32, Fig. 1, of the camera by a curved arm 31 and clamping screw 33, and comprises a rotary and axially movable lens barrel 2. Split gear rings 23, 24 are secured on the finder and camera lens barrels, and are connected by means of one or more idle pinions 29, 30 carried on a stub axle mounted on a ring 28 detachably clamped on a fixed part of the finder. If the adjusting mechanisms of the two lenses are dissimilar, differential movements are obtained by the use of pinions of different size. The finder comprises a reflecting prism 4 mounted in a carrier 5 adjustable by a set screw 9; a transparent or translucent coloured plate 19 movable into and out of position by a rod 20; and an eyepiece 15 with adjustable lenses 16.
