436,333. Stays. SMITH, H. H., and BRETTELL, G. P., 128, William Street, Lozells, Birmingham. Dec. 1, 1934, No. 34522. [Class 65 (i)] In a stay for a perambulator hood of the kind comprising two members jointed together at 4, each member comprises a rod or bar 2 forming the main part and a separatelyformed curved end member 1, with an offseteyed part 6 at one end, attached to the rod 2. In the form shown, the member 1 is formed from a sheet metal blank, and is screwed on to the end of the rod, but it may be formed as a hot pressing, by securing together two pressed channelled halves, by casting, or in any other suitable manner, and may be attached to the rod in a different way. The other end of the rod 2 is shown screwed into a similarly-formed joint member 3. The member 1 has a sleeve 9 fixed in its eye, for example by flanging or brazing, to engage the usual pin on the hood frame and act as a distance piece. The screw-threaded end of the rod 2 is slightly tapered, so that when screwed into the member 1 the latter is slightly expanded into close engagement with a ferrule 10 carried on the rod ; a transverse rivet may be provided for additional security. Before the other end member is attached, the rod 2 may be covered by a tubular sheath 11 of celluloid which is slipped over it. A metal tube may be used in place of the rod 2.
