Abstract
414,594. Cycle mudguards. PACILEO,G., 165, Stockwell Gardens, Clapham Road, London. Feb. 20, 1934, No. 5584. [Class 136 (i).] Front and rear cycle mudguards of the telescopically collapsable type are formed of a number of metal, celluloid &c. sections C, D, E ... , Fig. 2, of tapered form, adapted to be extended until contact is made between the larger and smaller tapered surfaces of adjacent sections. The guard is held in the collapsed position, Fig. 1, by a rubber-covered spring M connected at one to a bracket O<1> on the largest section F, and adapted to be connected at the other end either to a second bracket O on such section or to a fixed bracket G on the fork. A pair of stays B are pivoted to fittings on the section F and on the fork, and are held in the lowered or extended position by means of a stop roller on a fitting adapted to slide along a slotted plate W and to be fixed by a wing-nut A, wing-nuts being also provided to clamp the pivots of the stays B. A modified form for use with the rear wheel is constructed in two collapsable portions adapted to be extended in opposite directions from a section fixed on the upper rear fork.
