Abstract
436,086. Instantaneous steam boilers. DEHN, F. B., 103, Kingsway, London.-(Doble Steam Motors, Ltd.; 4053, Harlan Street, Emeryville, California, U.S.A.) April 3, 1934, No. 10070. [Class 123 (ii)] Two thermostats are arranged in a forced feed tubulous steam boiler 7 and operate so that when the water supply in the main portion of the boiler becomes deficient a secondary supply 73 is cut off by the one thermostat 74 and the increasing temperature causes the other 32 to shut down the fuel supply comprising a blower 23 and carburetter 27. A rocker 36 operated by thermostat 32 to make and break the blower circuit at contacts 43, 44, also affects contacts 59, 61, in a circuit including the solenoid of a valve 71 in the secondary feed supply in such a way as to introduce this supply when the temperature near thermostat 32 is a few degrees below that at which the blower is interrupted. Usually this supply forestalls the separation of the blower circuit contacts and the heat supply is continuous. To protect the main portion of the tubing from excessive heat owing to a deficiency of water through inlet 17 thermostat 74 is caused, when such temperature is reached, to separate contacts 64, 66, in the circuit of the secondary feed valve. Thermostat 32 not then being cooled by this feedwater causes the blower circuit to open. Specification 436,087 is referred to.
