Abstract
434,862. Track brakes. KNORRBREMSE AKT.-GES., 9, Neue Bahnhofstrasse, Lichtenberg, Berlin. Dec. 13, 1934, No. 35846. Convention date, Oct. 22. [Class 103 (i)] A track brake magnet carried by a railway vehicle is provided with a device which guides it out of the gap in the rail situated between the guard rails when braking takes place over a frog. As shown in Fig. 1, the device comprises hard steel plates 4 which extend from the sides of the rail shoes 1 of the brake to its cheeks 2. In a second form, Fig. 3, the end surfaces of the shoes 1 and cheeks 2 are bevelled and covered with hard steel plates 5, 6 which in the event of braking occurring over a frog, cut their way out of the guard rails. Fig. 5 shows a third construction in which a plate having a hard surface 7 is slidably connected between the shoes 1 so that if the brake is wedged in the rail gap the shoes move obliquely upwardly over the surface 7 and then extricate the plate.
