Abstract

276,702. Bõseler, W. April 27, 1926. Rails.-In an electromagnetic brake system of the kind comprising brake shoes 1 constituting the pole pieces of magnets arranged on the track for engagement with the vehicle wheels, provision for the passage over the track of locomotives which have a greater ground clearance than trucks is effected by raising the rails as shown in Fig. 9 or by means of a face plate 24 hinged beneath the upper flange of the rail. The rails may be made of hard Krupp steel or other relatively non-magnetic material to reduce stray magnetic flux.
