434,251. Track brakes for vehicles. KNORR - BREMSE AKT. - GES., 9, Neue Bahnhofstrasse, Lichtenberg, Berlin. Nov. 23, 1934, No. 33705. Convention date, Nov. 25, 1933. [Class 103 (i)] To maintain the track brake blocks of a railway vehicle above the rails on curved parts of the track, the blocks at the two sides of the vehicle are connected by a tie rod which is adjusted by the movement of the axles or an axle truck relatively to the body. In one arrangement, electromagnetic brake blocks 10 suspended by springs 12 from the vehicle body 1 are connected by a transverse tie bar engaged by an arm 6 of a shaft 4 rotatably mounted on the body, another arm 5 of the shaft being engaged by projections 8 on the axle truck 2 so that radial movements of the truck effect transverse adjustments of the blocks. In another arrangement an arm extending from the truck is connected by a bolt to the middle point of the tie-bar which is guided transversely of the vehicle. A further device comprises a chain connected at its ends to corners of the truck frame and at its middle point to the tie-bar and passing around rollers on the vehicle body.
