Abstract
314,713. Maley, A. W., and Taunton, E. M. Aug. 14, 1928. Skid.- In brakes for maximum traction trucks of tramcars, comprising wheel shoes applied by the drag of a magnetic track shoe through a cam, the cam shaft is connected to the track shoe by a long horizontally link so that variation in the vertical movement of the track shoe due to wear does not appreciably affect the force applied to the wheel shoes. The track shoe 3 supported by springs 4 is connected by a horizontal link 15 to a double cam lever 9 secured to a shaft 8 mounted in a bracket 6 carried bv a frame member 5. The cam lever 9 has two abutments 10 one or the other of which engages the yoke 11 according to the direction of travel of the vehicle when the shoe 3 is applied to the track, and thus applies the shoes 12 to the pony wheels 2 of the track. A member 17 extending from the angle-bar 16 which connects the shoe on either side of the vehicle engages a bracket 18 to limit transverse movement of the shoes 3. A member 14 and parts not shown are provided for application of the shoes 12 by hand when required.
