[Class 14 (i)] In a siphon bottle of the kind having in the nozzle, or in a fitting for attachment thereto, a member which co-operates with a seat to throttle the discharge of liquid to prevent splashing, means also is provided for imparting a whirling movement to the liquid. As shown in Fig. 1, the throttling means consists of a ball 8 co-operating with a sleeve 3 which is secured in the nozzle 1 and provides a notched seat 4 for the ball. The whirling motion is produced by a conical member 5 held by the sleeve 3 against a shoulder 6 and having helical grooves 7. Escape of the ball 8 from the nozzle is prevented by the dip tube 9 or by suitable stops. In a modification, Fig. 2, the sleeve, cone, and ball are provided in a tubular member 11 adapted to be secured to the nozzle 1 by a washer 14 compressible by a screwed cap or plug 13, which may have ribs 16. In other modifications, the member 11 is screwed to the nozzle and the cone 5 is formed with helical ribs, the sleeve 3 is omitted, the ball 8 is loosely secured to the cone 5 by a rivet, or the sleeve 3 is formed with helical grooves or ribs and the cone omitted. In another modification, Fig. 6, a sleeve 30 screwed into the nozzle 1 and having a notched seat 32 for the ball 33 is closed at its outer end 31, and formed with radial and inclined slots 35, 36 for imparting the whirling motion to the liquid, such motion being assisted by the internal screw threads of the nozzle.
