433,548. Converting. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitiits-Ges.; 2, Friedrich Karl- Ufer, Berlin) Feb. 16, 1934, No. 5213. Convention date, Feb. 16, 1933. [Class 38 (ii)] Relates to a converter arrangement of the type having synchronous switches 4<1>, 4<11> for isolating each discharge device during its non- conducting period and consists in arranging that the anode current ceases before the switch opens and recommences only after the switch is closed. This is effected by bridging each valve by a circuit comprising resistances 11<1>, 131 and a condenser 121 and by supplying the grids with negative biassing potentials from distributers 40<1>, 40<11> which are adjusted so that each grid is negatively biassed just before its anode circuit is completed by one of the synchronous switches 4<1>, 4<11>. The grid bias is obtained by current flow through a resistance 14<1> connecting the grid and cathode of each valve. Specification 429,772 is referred to.
