Abstract

432,686. Tip - up seats. KIDSTON, R., c/o Bennett's Ironfoundry Co., Green Lane, Stockport. Jan. 12, 1935, No. 1125. [Class 52 (ii)] A tip-up seat comprises a metal bracket 2 adapted to be secured to a wall &c., bracket arms 4 carrying the seat 1, and provided with a hinge pin working in spaced lugs 6 on the bracket, a torsion spring 7 on the hinge pin between the lugs 6, and rubber buffers 8, preferably mounted on the bracket and engaging shoulders 9 on the arms 4. The spring is so arranged that the seat springs up on being vacated. The arms 4 have rearward projections 4<a> which engage under stops 10<a> on the bracket to support the seat when in use. The buffers 8 are preferably secured to side projections 10 of a metal plate 11 which is recessed to accommodate an outwardly stepped part of the bracket 2.
