Abstract
474,985. Laminated springs. WOODHEAD & SONS, Ltd., J., and SANDERS, T. H. May 15, 1936, No. 13754. [Class 108 (iii)] In a laminated spring having a rolled eye at one or each end of the main spring plate, the eye is made non-circular and formed so as to provide a square or extended heel. As shown, the end of the plate a before being finished to form the actual eye c, is bent at an acute angle, Fig. 1, or more or less sharply, Fig. 2, or at a right-angle, Fig. 4. In each case an extended or square heel d is produced at the back of the eye c and supported by the suitably extended second plate e of the spring. The portion of the plate a below the eye may be straight or curved, as shown in Fig. 1, to provide a seating f for a bush b which receives the anchor bolt or shackle pin. Instead of passing under the bush b, as in the constructions described above, the plate a may first be bent over the top of the bush b and then bent backwards beneath the bush to provide a flat or curved seating for the bush.
