432,362. Ceiling-suspension devices. HAWKINS, P. W., The Brackens, Park Road, Woking, Surrey. Jan. 25, 1934, No. 2645. [Class 20 (iv)] A ceiling-suspension device comprises a U-shaped clip A directly connected to the supporting structure and a reversely-directed U-shaped clip E directly connected to the ceiling structure the two clips being insulated from one another by means of cork, rubber or other suitable sound insulating material. The device may also comprise a clip A connected to the supporting structure and a reversely-directed clip E connected to the ceiling structure, the clips being connected together by a member which is insulated from both clips. Both clips A, E may be of sheet metal and of channel section, the upper clip A being nailed to a ceiling joist F. The member J may take the form of a band encircling or substantially encircling the two clips A, C and pads K, L, M of rubber, cork, &c. are interposed between the web portions of the two clips A, E and between the web portions of the clips A, E and the transverse portions of the member J. Similar pads N, O are preferably provided between the upper and lower surfaces of the members J and the joists D, F. The member J may be bent to rectangular form and provided with a lapped joint, which may be welded. The member J may, alternatively, be cut from a tube of rectangular cross-section. The upper clip A may be adapted for use with steel joists or for anchoring in a concrete floor. The clips may be provided with stampedup portions to hold the pads in position.
