Abstract

431,293. Speed governors. SOC. ANON. SOLEX, 190, Avenue de Neuilly, Neuilly-sur- Seine, France. July 2, 1934, No. 19462. Convention date, April 3. [Class 57] An unbalanced valve 2 is arranged in the induction pipe 1 of an internal combustion engine and is loaded by a spring 9 secured to an arm 8 on the valve 2. The loading of the spring may be varied by moving the sleeve 11 axially or by adjusting the number of turns in contact with the sleeve 10. The sleeves 10, 11 are locked by the enclosing sleeve 13. The operator controls the engine through a lever 7 mounted upon a sleeve 4 pinned to the spindle 3. The valve 2 is free to rotate on the spindle 3 and its hub is provided with flats arranged to engage abutments 5, 6 on the sleeve 4 so that the lever 7 may positively close the valve but when open the valve may close under the effect of suction against the spring 9. The valve may be secured to the spindle 3 and the flats formed on the end of the spindle which is rotatable relatively to the sleeve 4. The loading spring 9 may be connected to the valve 2 by a flexible link which passes over a curved arm attached to the valve. Alternatively the spring 9 may be secured to a link 30 pivoted to the valve 2 and provided with an adjustable abutment 31 which engages an arm 32 integral with the valve 2. Needle bearings 20, 21, 22 are provided, ports 23 .... 29 being provided so that the mixture passes around the bearings and the heavier constituents are deposited and lubricate the bearings.
