Abstract
431,284. Packeting-machines. MAY, P. J., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd., 2, Evelyn Street, Deptford, London. April 3, 1934, No. 10007. [Class 94 (i)] In a machine for inserting articles in a shell having end flaps, the flaps are moved out of the path of the articles during insertion and an end stop prevents the articles being inserted too far. As shown in the Figures, the articles are brought into position 3 on the intermittent conveyer 2 where they are moved by plunger 4 into engagement with wrapper 5, which is positioned vertically in the path of the articles and is guided by guides 6. The guides are moved away and the articles advanced so that the wrapper is formed into a U-shape about them. The articles and wrapper are then moved into the packet 10 held on conveyer 12. A carrier 17 is moved up and down the cam surface 25, the members 15 opening out the flaps 13 of the packet 10 so that they do not impede the articles, and a stop 27, moved in synchronism with the members 15, prevents the articles being inserted too far into the packet. A presser member 31, carried by the stop 27, grips the packet and contents while the plunger 4 is being withdrawn from the packet.
