Abstract

457,064. Wrapping-machines. FOR. GROVE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., and GROVER, F., 432, Dewsbury Road, Leeds. Sept. 7, 1935, No. 24973. [Classes 94 (i) and 94 (ii)] A folding box through which a wrapper is forced by a plunger comprises a rectangular opening c having chamfered edges a<5> and slots a<1>-a<4> extending diagonally from each corner of the opening c. As the wrapper enters the box, the four sides are turned down simultaneously as in Fig. 6 and the corner portions are folded to form ears received by the diagonal slots. One pair of side members b<1>, b<2> of the box are provided with inclined projections b<3>, b<4>, one in advance of the other, which co-operate with the other pair of side members b<5> to fold the pair of ears inwardly at each side in overlapping relationship as in Fig. 7. In wrapping articles in tablet form, the article is carried by the plunger and is forced with the wrapper up through the folding box. The wrapping is completed after ejectment from the box in any known manner. In wrapping powder material, the wrapper passes downwardly through the folding box, and the plunger is provided with a sleeve through which the material is fed into the partial package before ejectment from the folding box, the plunger being withdrawn for this purpose.
