Abstract

1436166 Packages H B VOLUME 10 May 1973 [10 May 1972] 22280/73 Heading B8C A package, or wrapper, blank for elongate articles having an elongate, substantially rectangular, configuration, such as beer cans, comprises one, or more, tongues 5, 6 extending from one of the shorter sides, one or more, slits 7, 8 provided in a marginal zone of the blank at said shorter side in substantially parallel disposition thereto, one, or more, openings 1, 2 formed in the marginal zone of the blank at the other shorter side and so dimensioned that, in use, the, or each, tongue 5, 6 passes through the corresponding opening 1, 2, folds back over the marginal zone of said one shorter side and enters into the corresponding slit 7, 8. The wrapper, made, e.g. of cardboard, kraft paper, or synthetic materials, &c., has a further pair of openings 3, 4, which, with the openings 1, 2, serve to constrain the packaged articles when the wrapper is folded therearound along lines 9-12. After the heads 5a, 6a of the tongues 5, 6 have been introduced into the corresponding slits 7, 8, they slide back beyond the slits 7, 8 to complete the fastening.
