Abstract
429,398. Packeting - machines. MAY, P. J., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd., 2, Evelyn Street, Deptford, London. April 3, 1934, No. 10008. [Class 94 (i)] In a machine for inserting a flap in the open end of a packet, a member engages the flap and enters the packet with the flap, means being provided to retain the flap in position whilst the element is being withdrawn from the packet. As shown in the Figures, the portion 6, to be inserted in the packet 1 is folded up and supported by the part 8 of the plunger 9. The portion 6 may be part either of a wrapper or of the slide of a slide-and-shell packet. As the plunger moves forward the portion 8 of the plunger moves the flap 6 of the wrapper towards the shell 1 and the part 10 engages the free end of the flap 6 and inserts it into the packet. The slot 12, stop 13 and spring 14 enable the parts 8 and 10 of the plunger to move relatively to each other so that as the portion 10 is withdrawn from the packet the projection 8 remains against the flap 6 and holds it in position, the projection 8 moving away from the flap when the end of the slot 12 engages stop 13, after the part 10 has been withdrawn from the shell.
