Abstract

847,971. Wrapping machines. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH) Ltd. Jan. 29, 1959 [Jan. 9, 1958], No. 850/58. Class 94(1). In a wrapping machine for cigarettes, of the type in which a batch is thrust against a wrapper, carrying it, through devices which fold it to U-shape and then form end walls by folding margins of the U onto the sides of the batch, the batch is forced through a guide tube 23 which is reciprocable in the direction of travel of the batch and advances ahead of it to produce a preliminary fold in the wrapper 18. The wrapper is carried between rollers 26, the lower of which is carried on an arm 27, Fig. 1 (not shown), oscillated by cam means to clear the roller from the path of conveyer pushers 13. The preliminary folding may include initial tucking of the portions of the wrapper extending beyond the ends of the leading portion of tube 23.
