430,633. Change speed gearing for cycles. RAYNER, G. F., 5, Chancery Lane, London.-(Dansk Cyklevaerk Grand Aktieselskabet ; Norre Aaby, Denmark) Oct. 12, 1934, No. 29291. [Class 80 (ii)] A change-speed gear in a housing 20 secured to the frame of a cycle comprises a combined gear and dog-clutch member 16 slidably splined on the crank spindle 7 and biassed by a spring 18 into clutch engagement at 21 with a gear 15 loose on the spindle 7 and rigid with the usual transmitting sprocket 17. T h e member 16 carries at least one gear 16<a> adapted to be moved by a suitable level and against the spring 18 into mesh with a gear 12<a> fast on a lay shaft 8 which transmits a reduced speed drive to the gear 15 through a constant-mesh gear 13. An additional pair 16<b>, 12<b> may be provided to yield a third speed.
