May 30, 1934, No. 16176. Convention date, July 7, 1933. [Class 39 (i)] The heater of an indirectly heated cathode is formed by coating a tungsten or molybdenum rod 1 with aluminium oxide, placing a double, helical tungsten coil 3 thereon and coating this coil; the rod is about 20 mils. in diameter, the insulating coatings being not more than 15 mils thick. The coatings are sprayed on the rod and coil and are then fired or baked. The complete heater is inserted in an oxide coated nickel sleeve 5.
